Chad McKinsey and Andrew Ryan

Singers/songwriters/multi-instrumentalists Chad McKinsey and Andrew Ryan have recently started a new project under the name Kinsey Ry. In this musical endeavor they've tapped into their folk and acoustic roots to write music that appeal to a lot of different crowds while maintaining a genuine songwriting quality. In the age of EDM/Dance music taking center stage, they've been able to tap into the idea of wanting to make everyone dance while still creating an emotional dynamic.

Chad and Andrew met six years ago through a mutual friend while Andrew was working on his solo album. Through the years Andrew tapped Chad's talents at percussion and even vocals to be the go to drummer/background vocalist for the Andrew Ryan solo project. As their careers progressed both had always enjoyed working together and were always interested in writing and playing music together. The opportunity came when Chad was asked to write a custom song for German Idol (the American Idol spinoff in Germany) that had a pop folk style. So as Chad got to work on the production and songwriting, Andrew just happened to be in the studio the day of the deadline. Being in a tight spot, Chad asked Andrew to sing a lead vocal on a track titled “I'll Be There”, which would later become the inspiration to start the band Kinsey Ry.
